only Sessh can say something so arrogant and cocky and walk away with a huge applause. plaudit up for sesshomaru. i will await the next chapter with much to ponder.

Oo la la!!! He's such a naughty boy, but isn't that what makes him the Sesshoumaru we all love so much? You know, I have to ask,  if Kaoru loves Sesshoumaru so much and only wants to make amends, then why show up at a public function that hosts Sesshoumaru as their key speaker when he knows this will upset Sesshoumaru? It seems to me that if he wanted to see his son's speech, he could have quietly stayed out of sight and listened from the back or the sidelines where Sessh didn't have to see him and he could mask his scent as well.

It's merely an observation, but Kaoru has to know that it isn't going to be easy to get Sessh to reconsider, but to go about doing things he knows is going to irritate Sesshoumaru isn't the way and maybe the old dog needs to learn some new tricks. Talk to a councelor or something and leave Kagome out of it because he knows that messing with another inu's woman is a big no no, especially when said woman is your first born's.

Maybe he should just accept that now isn't the time to try a reconciliation and give Sesshoumaru time to grow up some more. He took a long time creating this rift and it's not going to mend itself just because dear old dad has had second thoughts. I'm all for family and trying to keep things civil, if not close, but sometimes the hurt is just too deep for some to handle, you know?   JEN

You are one of THE only ones who knows exactly how to write Sesshoumaru!! LOL!!! That guy is just so full of himself. I'd bet that if a psychiatrist tried to analyse him, the psychiatrist would need treatment after what Sesshoumaru put him through...

I can't say I blame Hiro for not wanting to get invovled. Getting between Sesshoumaru and his father is NOT a good place to be, just ask poor Kagome. And speaking of Kagome, She'd better quickly make sure to side with Sesshoumaru this time or there will be no living with him if she doesn't. I think his father is picking the wrong time and place to try and mend fences, but that's just my opinion. Sesshoumaru sounded pretty set when he said he was through with his father's meddling.   JEN

Awesome chapter. I love all the little sexual names that Sess calls Kagome.  Also wouldn't be a total shock for Sess's father to get up at the banquet and tell Sess he is sorry and that Sess was right about him not being a good father...That should restore the relationship...to be the Lord of the West apologizing infront of all those members...it would be shocking. PS  I pray for your health and whatever is wrong did not effect your writing...Love it

Booyaka! New chapter! ^_^ Glad someone reminded you to update; honestly I hadn't noticed you were author of both this and 'Not Impervious' *faceplants* I got so engrossed in the story... I guess I just didn't Think. Didn't make the connection.

It's too bad Kagome and Sesshomaru have been having some awkwardness since the dinner with inu-papa. It makes Sense... but it is disheartening. It does seem to be looking up for them... but honestly I think Sesshomaru might be setting himself up for disappointment in expecting Kagome to be something of an empath/telepath if she is to figure out that there is something she should be doing and then to do it. I can see his point... I just don't think his expectations are viable. We'll see how that goes. Perhaps this meeting with his father will affect that some way. Hopefully for the better.

Speaking of inu-papa, I'm both glad he has been depressed and is now coming out of that depression. To an extent. He Deserved to feel bad for all he didn't do, but at the same time I'm not a fan of anyone being depressed forever. It's unproductive, and doesn't fix anything. And his relationship with Sesshomaru NEEDS to be fixed. Sesshomaru will be much happier if that can be accomplished. So will Kagome, both because Sesshomaru is happy and her own views of family togetherness.

I can just imagine Kagome standing before Sessh's dad and giving him what for. I'll even bet that Kaoru was shocked that she stood up for Sesshoumaru after he thought he'd had her convinced he was just a concerned father. He must have been bad if both his sons ended up the way they are.

At least she was able to tell him that she wasn't siding with his father and got the whole thing worked out. I especially liked how he had to ask what she said. I thought curiousity was a cat's trait? Perhaps Sesshoumaru's ancestors... funny.

Now the ball is in Dear Ole Dad's court. Does he truly want a better relationship with his son or is it just what it's always going to be? And what was that crack in chapter 23, (cause I re read it and it ticked me off) when Kaoru asked about Sessh's need to be near her and when he didn't get the answer he was seeking he said, "So, he's denying his inner instincts. How...unencouraging. I hoped that this experience would have brought about positive changes in my son, but I think I may have been expecting too much, too soon." I think that Sesshoumaru being able to control that primal urge and trusting her is a feat all of it's own. This isn't way back in time when he was a young daiyoukai and more than that, Sesshoumaru IS NOT him. Sesshoumaru doesn't only hold his sire's bloodline, but that of his mother's too. She isn't protrayed to be some weak, spineless inuyoukai in the least. I'll bet that's why InuPapa went for a human female, because he couldn't totally dominate that female inu.

Wow! this is truly an amazing story and a rare one to find at that. As i'm sure you are aware it is difficult to find good modern world stories about this couple without it having the cliched storyling. Not that i mind reading those from time to time but it's still a refreshing change. This story is original and so very very well written. i'm more of a beta than a writer and have been known for being very specific in my beta reading but this story truly was remarkable in the phrasing, the writing style, the vocabulary...all very tasteful and appropriate. So i commend you you on this story that had me awake all night because i just could not tear myself away from the computer screen, lol A job well done adn i most definately look forward to the chapters to come....until then....
