I am in awe of what you have created. I just started reading this because you had daily updates and I don't like to wait and DAMN!! My impatience has finally rewarded me. I admit I was kinda disappointed when Sesshoumaru just disappeared for like three years, but I totally get the point that you made in the end. The whole story was Sesshoumaru trying to get Kagome to live in the present, to accept the past and to stop worrying about the future. When they came together in the end, nothing else mattered, it doesn't matter that they can't get those years back because they're together NOW. I digress. I loved this story and I think you have a great talent for storytelling, and even if you never write another story again, I will always remember and love you for writing Embrace the Silence.
Anyway, I'm gonna 'embrace the silence' right now, 'cause I swear I could write for days telling you how much I loved this. :)
Dear Writer,
You've had me from the start with this story. So, first, let me say thank you for being an accommodating writer with daily updates, and, really, just following your story through till the end.
Now, I must say, I truly enjoyed the story, just hated the ending.
My discontent is a two-fold.
1. The thing about fanfiction is that its written by fans. We, you and I, play with characters created by someone else like they were dolls. For whatever reason we are attracted to Kagome and Sesshomaru.
So you have crafted a story about them in an alternative universe, very similar to the real world. Not only did both characters struggle with issues brought up in the canon (i.e. time-traveling), but gave them real problems to handle because of the passage of time (i.e. loneliness, mortality).
But at the core of all fanfiction on this site is romance. You dressed up these anime characters in the real world and still had them fall in love. Thats what I wanted to read, and you gave it. Love is the main conflict of this story, surrounded by subplots of survival through time. So the climax was not when Sesshomaru died in the story, but when he returned to Kagome.
That being said, there is no denouement, or falling action. "Yeah! Sesshomaru and Kagome got together!" Thats the high point, the zenith, the peak. Now what?
I think I feel this way because its fanfiction. Because fanfic writers leave author notes. Because of the authorial instrusion. You told me that this was the last chapter. But if the writing were to speak for itself, it doesnt "feel" like its the last chapter.
2. One of your subplots is one of the issues fans/writers ask: How can Sesshomaru and Kagome be together if she is human and he is demon? He is immortal. She is mortal. The world of Inuyasha is sometimes so binary, so black and white, that I find it ridiculous.
Anyway, the line of your "last chapter" is "Yesterday was gone and finished and tomorrow was obscure and out of reach, but they still had this moment, right now, today."
Great line. Crucial character realization. A climax of understanding. And, again, Im left asking, "Now what?"
Even following the idiosynracies of your own plot, I want to see them more. I want to see how Sesshomaru and Kagome live, since even the characters dont care to focus on how they could die, but live together now.
In short, the story doesnt really seem like its over. There is more. There must be more. Its the way you have written it.
As a fan, I demand a sequel. Or more chapters. Whatever.
As a reviewer, I think you should be proud of writing with depth.
As a reader, thank you for the story.
Never stop writing cause one person will always want to hear what you say,
Aloha

YOOOOOOUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU!!! Little miss-thinks-The-Last-Day-is-better-than-her-writing, listen here! You have written an insanely amazing story that I printed and put in a folder of my favorite fanworks. 200+ pages!
Oh, my God, this fanfic has completely blown my mind! You pushed all my buttons, damn! I'm almost at a loss for words...what can I say that isn't already said? Both lemons were tasteful yet sexy and that's hard to pull off, trust me.
I think my favorite moment was chap. 14 when Kagome tells Sesshoumaru "No, it's pain and nobody should go through it alone" because that simple line was so powerful. Sesshoumaru seemed to open up just slightly to her after that point.
I adored the symbolism in the surgery scene and I cried when he made her cut his beautiful hair, which was also stunningly done I might add...and I won't even get started on what my stomach did when he said that fateful line in chapter 21. The ending was beautiful and I LOVE how there was no dialogue after they hung up their phones. All that story wrapped around a simple message.
You made me see and feel and hear and touch ALL of this. I love the song you picked too, both the Nyman piece and the Celine Dion. Mmmmmm, I'm rambling, I rarely ramble! I swear when I finished this, I had to sit for a minute at my comp and just process the story. People might gripe that Sesshoumaru wasted those years when he left, but I feel like you did that to make his return all the more aching. One of those moments where you just pause and go "Oh..." and then you fall down on your knees and cry at the electricity of their emotions. He could have gone ANYWHERE...
Thank you for pushing all my favorite buttons. This needs to be a movie, even an OVA. It's THAT damn GOOD! This stands on the same caliber as Resmiranda's work. I mean that! This is as good as HotM! I'm rec'ing this around because people NEED to see this.
Sorry for my rambling. I love this fic and I hope you write more in the future. You've got talent and then some!
That was simply amazing!
Made my heart ache.
Lovely ending!
I am almost sad that it is over...
T_T
THIS BLEW MY MIND!
Its unforgettable!

Oh wow.. I haven't heard this song [The Promis] in years. <3 I had had it on one of the Pure Moods CDs and had lost it long ago. Thank you for helping me find it again.
That is probably the most beautiful and heart-felt story I have read in a long time. I will be thinking of this story for a long time to come. No words are capable of expressing my thoughts thoroughly enough. Thank you for sharing this with us.
Oh my god. This story has been an amazing journey. I wish it could've been longer, as in taken more time to update. I love this story, and it's almost an inspriation to me. Loved this, and I love you!
THAT. WAS. INCREDIBLE!
This fic was just amazing. We actually journeyed with characters--cried, laughed, smiled--and MAN, what an adventure. Thank you for sharing such a great work with us.
EMBRACE THE SILENCE FTW!!!
EPIC.

This was a great ride! The ending was perfect. I was holding my breath all the way to the end, fingers crossed, hoping(even though you hinted) that they will still end up together. I liked how he went off for that time period to finish healing, as well as Kagome, so that they could both return to each other ready to commit to the other fully.
Beautifully done!
This was a wonderful, heartwrenching, painful yet joyful story to read. You have a gift for taking these characters and making them your own. I enjoyed it so very much. I hope to read some more of your amazing writing in the near future but for now I will wish you well in whatever you do.
Nysrina (Chapter 22) - Sun 02 May 2010
Woah... I was on the edge of my seat throughout chapter 21!
But to spend three years away from Kagome? He'll never get those three years he spent apart from her back no matter what he does. Poor Kagome! :(
On the whole, this is a riveting tale, so it's hard to be upset about anything. Hehe..
This. is one of the BEST fanfictions i have ever read. Its ABSOLUTELY AMAZING! i normaly dont get emotional when reading but some parts were so well written that i teared up. I can't even begin to explain how good it was. the last time i wrote a review like this it got very long cause i just kept repeating how great the story was. I could EASILY do that here. it. Is. A-freaking-MAZING! GREAT WORK.
The story was written beautifully from beginning to end.
Kinda sad that it's over! I really enjoyed this story, it was excellent. I'm so happy that the Sess/Kag fandom has such wonderful writers such as yourself to share their talents. Thank you! :)
