I love how Sesshomaru subtly tells them the father is the cause of the drought and the mother was so scare she was all, "tch, yeah he deserved what he got!"

Love the story...but it sound an lot like this book called The Brid of The Water God (also known as Habaek-eui Shinbu or Habaek) by YOON Mi-kyung. Don't get offended I'm not saying your copying the book...I'mjust saying they sound basically the same.

I started reading your lovely little piece, and then you just had to put the link for "Bride of the Water God" out there... THANK YOU! Thank you for both - I can easily see how the Korean manga would have inspired you to write for our favorite pairing! Having that as a reference gives me a greater idea of the visual world you are imagining. I'm really enjoying the departures you've taken from both series, and the unique tension you've given the two main protagonists. I feel the pace is a bit quick, but that's more my personal preference. I really look forward to the next installment!
