The sun shone, the birds sang, the wind blew. Yes, the world was working. There was no switch that had been flipped, turning it off. It was still spinning relentlessly through space.
So why did Kagome feel as if it had stopped?
Golden eyes that were anything but human stared at her, no noticeable expression discernible in them. His one hand was resting lightly on her shoulder, and it could have been mistaken for a friendly gesture. Save for the inch long nail that was pressed right above her jugular, her blood pounding franticly against it in anger that just couldn't seem to overcome her terror.
"Why are you here?" He asked, calmly, always calmly.
"Gnnh..." She responded smartly.
She realized that she was shivering, whether it was from fear or cold she didn't know, but had a suspicion it was the latter. The nail, that little son of a bitch that had the gall to threaten her life, pressed harder still against her neck, and then was removed as Sesshomaru took his hand away from her shoulder and returned it to his side.
"You will leave." He said before turning and walking away.
Kagome never did figure out why she didn't listen.
