CHAPTER 1: ENFOLDING OF KIKYOS EVIL PLAN (PART 1)
Kagome stared lifelessly up at the worn and torn ceiling above her, the muffled snores of the inutachi gang sounding every which way. She couldn't sleep; it was as simple as that. She looked at the tiny body that lay next to her, huddling into the warmth of her tousled sleeping bag. She smiled softly at the sleeping kit, as he mindlessly twitched his tail. Kagome swiftly got up from the warm surroundings of her sleeping pack and stretched into the now cold air that had enveloped the run down hut they had forged camp in.
'Oi, it's cold,' she thought to herself, crossing her arms for warmth. Kagome looked through the open door that stood before her. She desperately wanted to go outside for a walk, but her plans for the outside world were soon faltered when the harsh bitterness of the wind came in contact with her once warm flesh.
'Oh well,' she thought to herself. 'I'll just grab my backpack and put on my sweater.' She carefully tip toed towards the opposite side of the hut, making sure not to wake up a certain someone with sensitive doggy ears. Once she had gotten to her backpack, she looked down at quizzically. She merely shrugged at its shaggy appearance.
'Might as well take the whole thing,' she thought. Her eyes quickly darted to the bow and arrows that lay scattered in a heap next to her yellow pack.
'Should take those as well.' Not wanting to unpack her backpack inside, for fear of waking up anybody from their peaceful slumber, she quietly slung the yellow pack over her shoulder, along with the bow and arrows and headed towards the door. As soon as she stepped foot outside, she instantly regretted her actions for wanting to take a walk. It was freezing. But she forced herself, she had to; she needed to clear her mind. Inuyasha was getting her so confused as of late. The hanyou had been acting rather strange and distant from her lately. Sometimes he would just stare off into space, lost in his own sad little world, oblivious to the people around him trying to get his attention. And when he did actually acknowledge her presence, he would just gaze at her as if he had been hypnotized. Those eerie gazes held no emotion or feeling in those golden orbs of his. It hurt her deeply to see him like that, but yet she couldn't help but feel jealous. Because she knew that it wasn't her that he was gazing so intently at, but the dead miko Kikyo and Kagome couldn't help but curse silently at the dead miko for always seeming to lure Inuyasha away from her.
Although Kagome did feel a ping of anger and sadness tug at her already beaten down heart, she didn't let it phase her too much. It had been nearly sixth months now, dating back to the day when she first shattered the highly proclaimed Shikon Jewel and thus began her long, traitorous journey to find all the missing shards of the Shikon No Tama, but most importantly to destroy Naraku once and for all. To tell the truth, she was beginning to grow quite tired from this never-ending nightmare that dispelled her from her normal life and left her to be thrown away into the ever constant demon fighting age of the Feudal Era. And Inuyasha wasn't making her journey any pleasant. She was starting to become sick of his sleazy antics, the times where he had left her all alone and ran away to Her. To forever be in the arms of Her. To always having the sickly image of Her replaying in his mind (in case u haven't figured out, her=kikyo). As much as Kagome hated herself to admit, she still wanted the hanyou to notice her as more than a friend, but someone he could claim to be in love with. Kagome let out a deep sigh and brought forth her backpack, having much difficulty maneuvering it between the bow and arrows slung to her back. She dug her hand into it until she felt something soft and withdrew a black, zipper-up hoody sweater. She quickly set her backpack, along with her weapons onto the ground while she frantically put the sweater around her and zippered it up, holding it in place.
"Ahhhh..." she smiled, warmth beginning to isolate itself inside the barrier of her sweater. She then picked up her weapons and yellow backpack and slung it forcefully over her shoulders again. Kagome then began walking straight into the lush forest that surrounded her every step, the moons transparent glow illuminating off of her creamy skin and radiant black hair. If people were to suddenly come upon her, walking briskly off into the night, they would have mistaken her for some kind of Maiden of the Night. Even though she was warm enough in her sweater, the wind teasingly nipped at her legs and caressed her cheeks harshly, causing the once creamy, peach colored flesh to turn deathly white. Suddenly, a flash of white broke her out of the serene peacefulness of the forest, and sped across the corner of her eye. She looked towards it, following the snake like light shoot up into the sky, and then fall back down gracefully into the forest a good 15-20 feet away.
Kagome, curiosity taking the best of her, made her way through the green bunch of trees and shrubs enshrouded in her path, softly pricking at her now numb skin as she passed by. Finally arriving to the supposed destination of the white snake light, she hid herself behind a very large tree and waited for something to happen. She slowly peered out past the tree and her eyes widened in spectacle. There, in the center of a shadowed clearing was Kikyo. Her soul collectors gracefully soared around her, glowing a magnificent white. She looked hauntingly beautiful, as if she had come straight from a fairy tale.
'Does she always have to be so overly dramatic?' Kagome thought sarcastically. Her eyebrows knitted together. Why did Kikyo always have to be so damn...radiant?! A hint of jealousy flashed across Kagome's eyes. Why couldn't she be like the dead miko? Of course Kagome was very beautiful herself, but when compared to Kikyo-she was nothing but a lump of coal. And as if it couldn't get any worse, Inuyasha would constantly remind her of that tiny flaw. Whenever they had gotten into one of their often-recurring fights, he would always barricade her with insults, comparing her to the clay pot. On many occasions he had sent her home with tears and a broken heart. Yes she would always go home after an argument, but yet she always came back openly forgiving and apologizing to him first. Why did she keep on doing that to herself?
"Girl, I know you are there, show yourself," a voice interrupted Kagome's thoughts. Kagome froze and hesitantly stepped out from the protection of the tree that hid her from view. Kikyo was still beautiful as ever. Her long, silky black hair was tied loosely with a white hair ribbon, her face was solemn and her black eyes empty as usual. And naturally her miko garb remained intact. She was beautiful, but truly creepy.
'How in the world does she remain so damn clean all the time, I know no one from this world takes baths and stuff occasionally and Kikyo has been through a truck load of fights...but when in the world does she have time to fix herself up I mean-' Kagome was suddenly knocked from her thoughts when a flash of mischief brought forth upon Kikyo's solemn demeanor. A slight grin appeared onto her flawless face. Kagome brought her head back in confusion.
'Why the hell is she so damn happy?' Kagome asked herself bitterly. She then spread on an equally challenging grin as she asked
"Pray tell me Kikyo, why are you smiling so...pleasantly?" She stretched the word pleasantly as if it were poison on her tongue. Kikyo shot a glare at her.
"I am simply humoring over your foolishness," Kikyo simply replied. " You were always quite the foolish one. Please tell me, for I do not have a clue, why does Inuyasha constantly want to protect a wench such as yourself who does not even know how to defend herself. Truly a useless girl." Kikyo smiled with malice, praising herself silently with the uprising of her chin. Kagome felt a nagging pull on her heart, but she simply brushed it aside. Kagome smiled sweetly, but anyone who looked hard enough could tell she was really angered.
"Honestly Kikyo, I don't know how he could ever still love you. You're nothing but a dried up clay pot. Tell me now, if he ever did somehow end up with you, how are you guys gonna' have sex? It would be like him trying to hump the ground." Kagome cocked her head teasingly. This was starting to get fun.
"Hold your tongue girl!" Kikyo suddenly yelled. " I am not going to stand around here like this, taking in your meaningless, ignorant nonsense!" With that Kikyo moved her hands behind her back so quickly, that Kagome couldn't see what she was about to do until she saw Kikyo with her bow, an arrow drawn back aiming towards her. Kagome broke out into a "deer in headlights stance". One question roamed through her mind,
'What's goin' on here?'
