CHAPTER I – Shadows of the night

The night was clear, the skies were filled with stars and the crescent moon was shinning down so brightly on this place called earth. In the darkness of the night, four shadows could be seen coming out of the forest.

"Ohhh!! Wow!!" a little voice said. "Look Lord Sesshomaru, the sky is very pretty tonight!!" little Rin said looking up to the stars. "Mmm" was the Lord's response without showing any emotion. "Don't you think so Mr. Yaken?" directing a smile to the toadlike demon. "Hmph! I don't get amused by such little things like those" said Yaken turning his head away from the little girl. Rin loved running through the fields, so with little giggles she started running without getting very far away from the group.

They continued their way, when all of a sudden the little girl shouted "Lord Sesshomaru, come here, this Rin found something". The Lord went quickly to see what the little girl had encounter when he realized there was a body lying still on the ground with its face burried in the grass. The body had minor bruises all over and a really bad injury on one leg . The Youkai flipped the body to find out that it was a human girl. Rin gasped and pulled the youkai Lord's leg "We have to help her or else she will .." the little girl said with a broken voice. Yaken reacted to the nonsense the girl was saying "What are you saying?! The honorable Lord Sesshomaru does not need to help any hum--" he choked when he felt a clawed hand gripping tight around his neck. "Apologize to her" a cold and smooth voice said with a hint of anger. The toad youkai looked at the little girl with little tears coming down her face " I.. I am deeply sorry Rin". "This Rin accepts your appologies Mr. Yaken" giving him a smile. The Lord of the Western Lands took the body in his arms carefully when he caught her scent under the blood. 'This girl' he wondered 'She's one of InuYasha's companions..the Miko'. "Very Well" the Lord said "Rin you will take care of her". "Yay!!" the little girl said cheerfully and with that they continued their way.

'I am correct. Those odd looking clothes coul only be those girls's' the Lord was lost in his thinking 'but what is this human doing alone out here.. And those injuries' 'What am i saying.. i dont care' "..N-No.. N-Naraku..." a whispering voice trembled. The Taiyoukai looked down at the human body and he felt the small body in his arms start to shake uncontrollably. "We camp here" the cold voice said making Rin sigh "I'm sleepy" said the small girl who was fighting her eyes to stay open and yawning.

They set the fire and soon everyone was settled. Rin had fallen asleep on the dragons back and Yaken had fallen asleep by the dragon who was around the fire. Mean while, Sesshomaru was thinking what to do with the girl. He couldn't leave her next to Yaken.. who knows what he would do to her. And on the other han there was no place for her next to Rin so he just left her by the fire and the minute he dropped her he saw her trembling. It was after all a cold night. 'Hmm' he growled deep down his throat an mase her a pillow with his tail sitting as far away as he could from her. 'Weak woman'he thought while the night passed by.

The morning came fast and Rin had already been taking care of the young woman for a while, her bruises were cleaned and her injury was bandaged but the girl was still unconscious. "Is she going to be alright Mr. Yaken?" the girl asked worried. Yaken looked at the Youkai and Sesshomaru gave him a cold killing stare " Y-Yes Rin .. She'll be alright". The youkai looked away.

"Yaken.. take care of the girls..BOTH of them" said Sesshomaru loking at him from the corner of his eye "B-But Lord Sesshomaru..where--" the youkay Lord was already gone.

In the afternoon, Rin was annoying Yaken with her innocent questions 'This little girl is getting on my nerves" he thought when they both heard a loud gasp and turned to look at the young woman. "She's awake.. Hello! This one's name is Rin... What's yours" said the little girl running towards the woman "Huh?.. Oh...K-Kagome.." Kagome found that little girl's way of speaking really familiar "What happened?.." Kagome hadn't noticed the presence of the toad youkai yet.. "We found you on the ground last night lying unconscious.. Right Mr. Yaken?" 'Yaken' Kagome thought "And Lord Sesshomaru took you with us" 'S-Sesshomaru' Kagome's eyes widened "and this Rin took care of your wounds " She said adding a smile. "I see" said Kagome "W-Well thank you very much for your help ..Uh.. Rin but i have to go now" said Kagome with fright written all over her face "No, you cannot leave" said the toad demon in a cold tone 'If she does Lord Sesshomaru will cut my head off' Yaken was already in a fighting position "Mm.. Ok then" said Kagome with a little bit of disappointment in her voice "Yay! You'll stay then!.. Let's play". Kagome agreed and started playing with the girl and singing songs with her when the Lord arrived.

"Miko" he said. Kagome's body stiffened at her hearing the Lord calling her "Y-yes Losrd Sesshomaru" she replied "Come. I shall have a word with you in private" She felt her body going numb 'oh god, hes gonna kill me, i know it, that's it for me"she was thinking while waling towards him. They both went into the woods, Kagome studied his face to see if she could find out his emotions without any luck. His features showed no emotion at all making her even more scared. 'Fear huh.. she's affraid of me' he suppressed a smirk as he could smell her fear for him. 'i can't even make out what he's thinking' she thought "What happened?"her thoughts were interrupted by his smooth voice. She was terrified at that point that she couldn't even process the question in her brain "Um..Uh..." he stared down at her raising an eyebrow waiting for her response.

Flashback

'Inuyasha is going to love all the snacks i brought him.. he he' she thought as she ran towards Kaede's village. 'I'd better hurry, its getting late'.

"Hahahaha" an evil voice was heard 'That voice' "Naraku!" "Miko give me the jewel shards"he said appearing in front of her "never" she yelled at him "So be it . You shall die" 'No, Inuyasha would kill me if he knew i gave the shards to Naraku' she thought, so she put up a barrier protecting her from his attacks. "Kagomee!!" she looked behind her and saw her friends coming to help her "Grrrr..Those insolent fools" Naraku carried Kagome along with her barrier and held her up in the air "Fine then. Have it your way" with those words he threw Kagome flying and disappearing in the night. "N-No..Kagomeeeee!!" InuYasha yelled as Naraku faded away.

End of Flashback

Kagome recalled. "I see" Sesshomaru responded and turning around he started walking back towards the camp. 'InuYasha..' Kagome thought as she looked up towards the sky tears filling her eyes. It was night already and soon after Sesshomaru took off to meet the others at the camp she did too aswell.
