A Stray by Inca

I Really Did Like Your Omlettes...

Kagome run! Go home!

"No, I can heal you. Just give me the jewel! Don't be stupid Inu-Yasha!"

"This has caused enough harm. Goodbye Kagome." Like the moment before dying everything was clear, the blood stains all over is red hatori, his straggled hair, the stump of his beloved sword, the jewel clutched in his other hand. She gasped, the over-brightness of his eyes. He was crying InuYasha never cried. he was her Prince Charming, come to save her from the fire breathing dragons...

Only this time, the dragons had won.

"Inu-Yasha!" She screamed, grabbing onto something anything so she wouldn't fall. "You could come with me..." She pleaded. Tears.

Actual tears...

"I...really...did like your omlettes." He said gruffly and the salt water dropped from his face as she fell...

The fall took forever, she saw the jewel glow, and knew no more.

(The comedy will come, I swear)

Kagome woke up with hot tears and a cold sweat.

She looked around her room for some comfort, it was the same, all the same. As if nothing had ever happened. Her room was pink and fluffy like the inside of a chocolate box, the cherry blossoms were swirling outside her windows, her 'Amedaus posters' stood out shockingly agaisnt the wallpaper...and most earth-grounding of all, her math book stood open. it's stark white-and black pages mocking her for have a literary mind instead of a linier one.

For a moment burning anger at all mathematitions stabbed through her grief and sleep-depravated haze.

Anways...

The worse part was, she knew it hadn't happened. Nothing had happened. They were dreams...just...really weird dreams... In her dreams she never heard the wish, but she knew what it was. Now Inu-Yasha, her Inu-Yasha, the one she had travled with, wanted to spend enternity with, was gone. Turned human to live with the real Kiyko. She wasn't jealous, if Naraku hadn't been born evil, then they had a right to live together.

All her friends would live happy lives, Sango would have the demon slayers, Shippo his family and the leecherous monk Mirkou would not have to die of the curse in his hand. If they were all alive and history hadn't been changed that much. But...of course...she only remember these things in the middle of the night while she had spent the first half frantically trying to finish her homework.

She turned some music on, soft so she wouldn't wake up her family, and tried to go back to sleep.

A loud honk and sqeaking of brakes didn't help the matter.

She got up, with a terrible sinking feeling in her gut. "Don't let it be a dog, anything but a dog..."

Sesshoumaru was tired, and hungry. Not even a bird, or chipmuck. Or a cat, and those thigns were everywhere. Somewhere along the line some idiot had decided those things would make good pets.

HA! Pets from Hell you mean.

The world was blured, he'd travled eighteen miles in one night, with no food, and only dirty water that was probably mixed with achohol.

That's what you get for drinking puddles next to taverns.

He shook his head and kept going. He had to put some distence between him and the 'family' who had tried to put bows in his hair.

BOWS! He stopped and growled, he'd managed to get them out, and he had gotten a small bite to eat. Dog food, how the world had changed. Long ago he could have had that little girl killed for such a...

a...

He didn' swoon, only girls swooned no, he blacked out a moment, which was why he didn't hear the car's approuch. Damn things, smelled worse than horses did. And you couldn't eat them.

Headlights, yelling, brakes, darkness.

Oh shit.

(And someone off in the Misty Netherlands)

"A car crash...how romantic."

"He's a demon warlord what do you expect me to do? He needs violence to understand anything."

"I was more thinking of the car. Damn, that thing is totaled..."

"You idiot."

"What? He'll be fine. Didn't even break a bone."

"It is so like you to care about a car when it hits something. For the love of it-" Rebec sighed and rubbed her head, Kasha whimpered slightly

"A joke, seriously though, I don't think the rum...or run... agreed with him."

"Now that's just gross."

Despite the commentary (or maybe she just didn't notice) Kagome yanked some shoes on and put on a coat.

Sesshoumaru's eyes opened amoment to see a blurry thing come towards him and that last thing that he thought:

Bows indeed...
