Every dog has its day

The battle to defeat Naraku was a hard one. Many of the people that made up her pack had become injured, even she, herself.

Kagome stood before the evil Hanyou, his face constricted in pain as she allowed her power to seep into his flesh. Three years it had taken them, three long years to make this evil disappear into the under world from which he had been made.

"Every Dog has it's Day, Priestess, even if You could never truly defeat me...."

Kagome stood over the downed hanyou, her eyes a dark blue for the emotions swirling within them.

"I'll Be back, stronger than ever."

"Goodbye Naraku. May your soul now find peace." With those words Kagome's powers seemed to pulse. Naraku's ashes were carried away on the wind. The shikon jewel fell to the blood covered ground with a small sound.

Glancing at her companions, Kagome bent over to pick up the jewel that had cost her her modern life.

'Name your wish....'

"There is no pure wish... just the word wish in itself means selfish. So no, Jewel, I will not wish on you, but guard you until my dying days."

'Good Child. In exchange for your faithful protection, we, myself and the demons of whom which I battled, shall give you a gift."

After those words whispered across her mind, Kagome fell onto the bloody battlefield Holding her head and screaming in pain.
