The Ladder stands on the Horizon...

A/N: Hello everyone!! This is this first fanfiction I've ever written so please be gentle in popping my review cherry! ^_^ 

Constructive criticism would be gladly welcomed so feel free to give all you like, but if you plan on being petty don't expect a response

'cause arguing over the internet is just plain lame. Oh, before I forger 'Die Leiter' is German for The Ladder and I translated the lyrics from German to English for ease of understanding.

Disclaimer thingy: Inuyasha and Co. belongs to Takahashi-Sama and the song used in this belongs to the band Oomph! I don't own anything of Takahashi-sama's nor do I own anything that belongs to Oomph! (though I wish I owned Dero and his voice :P)

Kagome tossed and turned in her bed, sweat dampening her forehead she woke up with a start. She sat straight up in her bed and threw the covers off if herself.

“These dreams have got to stop, when will I realize that I can’t ever go back there, back to him.”  She thought darkly. “ If he really wanted me back he would have sent for me a while ago wouldn’t he? It’s been almost two years since we saw each other and the last time we were together he seemed so distant compared to all of the other times we spent together.”

“It seems as though I’m damned to lead this empty existence with out him… I don’t know how much more I can take.”

With an exasperated sigh and a quick glance a her clock she laid back down and forced herself back to sleep.

“Kagome…” The voice purred.

“Kagome… come back to me Kagome.”

Kagome shot up out of her bed and thrashed her head around like a mad woman.

“Ka-go-me…” The voice purred once more

She looked out her window and saw a sight she hadn’t seen in years. She saw the golden glowing ladder that had taken her to her otherworldly love many years ago.  Kagome could not believe her eyes and had to check to see if she was just hallucinating. So she jumped out her bed and made her way downstairs swiftly, but not too fast so she wouldn’t disturb the other occupants of her home.

Once she made her way outside she ran and almost tripped several times making her way to the ladder she thought she would never see again.

“I-it can’t be, why now.” She said as tears pricked her eyes.

“Come to me Kagome”

“S-Sesshomaru?” She stammered.

“Hai, Kagome it is I, please return to me.”

Kagome did not waste anytime she immediately began her ascent up the ladder. She couldn’t believe it! The ladder had returned, her Sesshomaru wanted her back!

Quickly she climbed, grasping the rungs tightly. She made sure not to look down for she detested being up high, but she only braved climbing this ladder for her love.  She looked above her and noticed she was almost to the clouds. Kagome knew once she cleared the cloud cover she would be reunited with Sesshomaru soon.

Once Kagome had made it through the clouds she immediately became confused. This is where the Gates of Heaven were supposed to be, she looked around but found nothing but the stars twinkling above her and clouds swirling beneath her.

Nervously she called out, “Sesshomaru? Where are you? I don’t see the Gate at all.”

“You must climb further, little one, you must make your way to me tonight” Sesshomaru said.

Thus Kagome began her climb anew, she climbed and climbed and climbed some more. Soon she realized she was she was almost at the moon and she began weep.

Once more she called out to her beloved “Sesshomaru? I still can’t find you, I have climbed further just as you asked and yet I still have not reached you.”

“Kagome, you must climb further still, past the moon and into the land of stars.” Sesshomaru stated.

“B-but I don’t think I can make it that far! My arms are becoming tired.” Kagome said between tears.

“Then perhaps this Sesshomaru was wrong in even sending for you again, maybe you truly are just a weak mortal. You should just give up then.” Sesshomaru sneered.

“NO! I will not give up. I’ve waited two long years to see you again, I won’t give up just yet.” Kagome said with determination evident in her voice.

“Then climb, Kagome.”

So once more Kagome began her ascent once more. She climbed passed the moon as told. She climbed for what seemed like days on end, but she never reached where she intended to go. She but she had yet to reach the one who she believed loved her as much she loved him.

But she still climbed, she climbed for her love, she climb for her desire, she climbed because she did not want to return to her mundane life.

And so she climbed for the rest of eternity trying to reach him…

A/N: Soo..What did you think? I know it was quite short, but I'm not too good with long dialogues just yet. I also know that this probably leaves alot of questions unanswered, but if the response to this is good I may make a prequel of sorts to answer all of the questions.
