Silent Stalker

AN: This is my first attempt to write anything, so please be gentle! Constructive critisim is most welcome though! This is also for Nobo's weekly challenge: Hauntings with Karma for creative use of peanut butter!

After five years travelling back and forth through the bone eaters well Kagome had grown in strength and skill, and she now possessed complete control over her powers. The others no longer worried about her in battle, as she could now hold her own against many of the dangerous threats they faced in the search for the shards and the destruction of Naraku. No longer did she rely on Inuyasha to protect her, as it was, he now did not even need to escort her to the well and back.

But unbeknown to her friends, Kagome needed Inuyasha during these times more than ever. It all started three months after Inuyasha stopped escorting her, at first every time Kagome passed through the barrier around Kaede's village which protected it from attacks, she would feel a strong demonic aura surround her. Never quite touching her, but never leaving her either, even when she sent a strong wave of her powers out around her. Sometimes she felt familiar with the aura, but then it would mask itself from her so all she could feel was a powerful youkai.

As the months wore on though, Kagome was feeling more and more nervous as her powers did nothing to stop the presence around her. It was almost as if the youkai who was taunting her was immune to her powers, and that frustrated her more than anything else. Especially since the youkai had started brushing past her as she made her way towards the well, as that seemed to be the only time it was really near her. When she returned from her time, she could always feel the youkai, but it would never come to close to her, almost as if it didn't want to reveal its presence to Inuyasha's senses.

Once on the other side of the well not only did she feel safer, but she also felt desperate for a shower to scrub her skin clean. For every time the youkai touched her she would be left with wet patches on her skin, it never touched her clothes only skin.

Four months after the encounters started Kagome and the others were taking a break so she could re-stock her ever faithful bag, meaning Kagome was going home once again. This time however Kagome decided enough was enough, she was going to put an end to this once and for all. She was tired of dreading going home, she was tired of dreading coming back, but most of all she was simply tired of feeling scared again.

Saying farewell to her friends, and threatening Inuyasha not to hurt Shippo again while she was away or else, she made her way to the clearing where the well was. She felt the demonic aura the moment she left the barrier, but she was not afraid this time, instead she let the youkai touch her instead of trying to strike it every time it came near her.

Once she had the well in her sight she stopped, "I will not play this game any longer, show yourself you coward"! Kagome demanded. Immediately she sensed the youkai's anger, and then she sensed something she was not expecting. "....Oh My God"! was all she was able to say as the youkai who had been stalking her all this time finally revealed himself to her.

"You dare call this Sesshomaru 'coward' miko" The lord of the western lands angrily stated though his face was void of any expression. "Well....I mean.....hang on why the hell have you been freaking me out"! Kagome's own anger suddenly flared to life again, as she remembered why exactly she was there. "For months its been you who's been stalking me"! she was mad as hell right now, they had a truce with the western lord, a shaky truce, but a truce none the less. "This Sesshomaru was not stalking you Miko" he snarled in reply with his eyes glaring at her. "Then what the hell have you been doing oh great and powerful one" Kagome said sarcastically, still finding it truly hard to believe that all this time it was Sesshomaru who had been following her. "This Sesshomaru does not need to explain himself to the likes of you Miko"! His arrogance and his evasiveness were irritating Kagome more than she thought possible.

"You know what... I just want to go home" Reigning in her temper Kagome made to pass the stoic taiyoukai, but quicker than she could blink he reached for her arm and lifted it to his face. "What the hell are you....eeewwwww"? she shrieked in his ear inadvertently forcing him to tighten his hold on her as he continued to lick her bare arm. 'So he's been licking me, that's just gross' was all Kagome could think as she stared at him with open horror.

He had a death grip on her arm when Kagome suddenly noticed something as she watched him. As he licked her tanned skin, it left white patches and suddenly everything clicked in to place in her mind and she burst out laughing. The youkai holding on to her suddenly locked his eyes on to hers as he growled menacingly at her. "How dare you laugh at this Sesshomaru Miko, I have killed others for less" His voice was threatening as he almost threw her arm away from him. "I'm so sorry Sesshomaru I couldn't help it but I think I know what your after" Kagome said as she knelt down in front of him, rummaging in her big yellow bag. "Aha I found it, I think you want this" she said, standing once again and holding a small circle box to the western lord. He sniffed it once as Kagome saw his eyes bulge almost out of their sockets before quickly opening it and licking the contents like a starving man. "What....is....this....Miko" he said between licks, very un-Sesshomaru like Kagome noticed, but she answered him anyway.

"It's called tanning lotion, in my time girls like to make their skin look darker than it really is" she began, at his raised eye brow she continued. "I know it sounds absurd but, trust me in the future, people like having skin that looks like it was touched by the sun" He still looked sceptical but he left her finish, "This is a home made lotion my friend Eri made for me and our other friends, I think you like it because the bases for it is a type of food we call peanut butter". Kagome noticed Sesshomaru seemed more interested when she mentioned food and peanut butter, "if you like I can bring some more peanut butter for you when I come back" she offered. At first he looked like he was simply going to walk away, then he shocked her once again "that is acceptable Miko, I will be here when you return" then he walked away, leaving Kagome watching his retreating form.

"That was the strangest thing....ever"! Kagome said before passing through the portal to her time.
