Funny thing, this is the second story I have taking place in Tottori. One of my stories on FF.net does too. I might actually have to ask you some questions one day to make sure I'm describing that setting correctly.

As for the dinner- I'm trying to go with the idea of recreating a homemade dinner for kids who don't get that opportunity. Obviously some of them have aunts and uncles who give them that but some of them don't. Let's see if the rest of the story lives up to that however!
