To answer your question, no it can't be just any youkai, it has to be a daiyoukai because it is about the mystical potency of the blood. Perhaps it could happen with a 'regular' demon, but they would have to be ancient or have something that somehow enhanced the level of power in their blood.

2. The Shikon is whole - but her adventures definitely doesn't stop there.
3. She is SOOO not human anymore. But whether it is by virtue of Sess's
